Welker Residence

This mid-century home was fully renovated and expanded with a new, two-story addition on the rear that includes a new primary bedroom suite and a screen porch overlooking Rock Creek Park. A new family room and outdoor patio were added on the lower, walk-out level with a spiral stair connecting the patio to the screen porch above. The former family room on the lower level was converted into an Accessory Dwelling Unit. In the original structure, the formerly compact kitchen was opened to the living and dining area, and the foyer was enlarged by capturing the former front porch. A new porch with V-shaped steel posts and decorative concrete block screens was added to enliven the house’s curb appeal.
