Chevy Chase Residence
Chevy Chase, MD
Total house renovation after an electrical fire destroyed the interior and all their furnishings and belongings. The house was, and remains, an uncommon front-back split-level. Our design moved the kitchen and dining room to the lower level to take advantage of the walk-out and better engage the rear yard. The existing footprint was maintained but expanded/cantilevered a few feet on the upper level toward the rear and side to allow for larger bedrooms and larger baths. The bedroom roof level is carried over the front half of the house to create a taller foyer and living room. Stock round skylights provide daylight to the interior of the house and relief from the rectilinear volumes.
